Custom packaging is thermoformed packaging with a mold designed from scratch around your product's dimensions. Dipack, a brand of Onursan Ambalaj, runs mold design, sampling and mass production in-house, with mass production at its Dursunbey factory in Balıkesir. On this page you will find the process, reference projects and the information we need for a quote.

If your size is not among our standard molds, or your product needs a special shape, you are in the right place. You get packaging of your own, designed for shelf life, presentation and safe transport.

How does custom packaging manufacturing work?

The process runs in four steps, and we get your approval at each one. First, we review your product's dimensions, weight and shelf conditions; then we prepare the technical drawing and the mold design. Next, we send samples from a trial run, and after your approval we move to mass production.

  1. Discovery and brief: product dimensions, filling method, shelf and transport conditions, monthly quantity.
  2. Design and mold: technical drawing, material selection (PET or PP) and mold (tooling) manufacturing.
  3. Sample and trial: a sample batch to test on your filling line and on the shelf.
  4. Mass production and shipping: regular deliveries with a set carton and pallet layout.

Reference projects and non-standard products

In custom manufacturing, Dipack does not make food containers only; it also develops molds for baby product, cleaning product and confectionery packaging. The table below shows the custom products in the catalog and our reference projects.

PET or PP: which material for which product?

We choose the material together, based on the product's temperature, shelf life and presentation needs. PET gives glass-like clarity, so it is the first choice for display and blister packaging. PP withstands heat and impact, so it stands out for foods that need hot fill or microwave heating.

What information do you need for a custom packaging quote?

An accurate quote requires us to understand your product, so prepare the information below for the first meeting. If anything is missing, our team completes it with you during the discovery stage, so you do not need to know every detail.

  • Product dimensions and weight: width, length, height and fill weight.
  • Filling and closing method: manual filling or an automatic line, plus your preferred lid type.
  • Shelf and transport conditions: cold chain, hot fill and export loading.
  • Monthly quantity and start date: these two figures define the mold and production plan.

Who chooses custom thermoformed packaging?

Branded food manufacturers choose custom manufacturing most, because packaging with its own shape stands out on the shelf and is harder for competitors to copy. Baby product, cleaning and cosmetics brands also work with Dipack on blister packaging, and confectionery producers on molds.

For our standard sizes see the leak-proof containers, meat trays and cake containers pages; an existing mold may already meet your needs.

Tell us about your project and we will get back to you for discovery and a quote. The whole process, from mold design to mass production, stays in-house; mass production runs at our factory in Dursunbey, Balıkesir.

Custom packaging: frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum order for a custom mold?

Yes, because of the mold investment, custom manufacturing requires a regular monthly quantity, but the threshold depends on the product. We set the quantity together at the quote stage, based on product dimensions and the number of mold cavities.

How long do the mold and sampling process take?

The time depends on product complexity, so after the discovery meeting our team gives you a clear schedule for design, mold and samples.

Who owns the mold?

We define mold ownership and terms of use in a contract at the quote stage, so there is no uncertainty in future production runs.

Do you also manufacture for non-food products?

Yes, we also have blister packaging references for baby product, cleaning and cosmetics brands. Pacifier and toilet block packaging, for example, appear in the catalog.

Which materials do you work with?

We thermoform PET and PP. We choose the material together, based on the product's temperature, shelf life and presentation needs.

Can I see a sample?

Yes, after the trial run we send a sample batch, so you can test it on your filling line and on the shelf before approving mass production.
