Plastic egg tray and egg carton guide
Plastic egg trays are clear PET egg cartons with locking lids that keep eggs visible and protected on the supermarket shelf. Dipack manufactures egg trays in 10-egg, 15-egg and 6×2 models, and sells them wholesale direct from the manufacturer to egg packing plants and supermarkets.
Egg tray models and size chart
Pack size is the first factor in choosing a model. The 10-egg tray is the standard supermarket pack, the 15-egg tray is for family size, and the 6×2 tray suits a slim pack of two rows of six eggs.
| Model | Dimensions (mm) | Pieces per sleeve / carton | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-egg tray | 240×100×80 | 150 / 600 | Standard supermarket pack |
| 15-egg tray | 240×150×80 | 100 / 500 | Family-size pack |
| 6×2 egg tray | 300×100×80 | 100 / 400 | Slim 12-egg pack in two rows |
Each product page also lists carton dimensions, carton volume (m³) and cartons per truck, so you can plan storage and shipping before you order.
Why plastic egg trays instead of cardboard?
A clear PET tray shows the eggs without opening the lid, so shoppers spot cracked eggs on the shelf. The locking lid stops the tray from opening in transit, and the tray does not soften in humidity. As a result, unlike cardboard, it keeps its shape throughout its shelf life and offers a flat surface for labels.
- Egg packing plants: mainly supermarket and chain deliveries.
- Supermarkets and delis: for example repacking in store.
- Free-range egg producers: also small branded batch packs.
